Decentralized Alternative Templates and Shares Transmitted by Relays
datstr is a mining share network for Bitcoin and its BLAKE2b fork. Your node builds the block, a Nostr-signed share proves the work, and the coinbase pays you directly. No custody, no mandatory fee, and every rule a verifier applies runs in your browser.
Draft 0.0.1, running on BLAKE2b testnet4: a gateway, a coordinator and an audit page, and real blocks with the datstr coinbase. Next: the first pooled block, delegation, a browser miner.
getblocktemplateThe gateway runs beside your own node and builds every block from its getblocktemplate. Nothing north of the gateway ever sends a template, a transaction list or a merkle branch south. Your node's policy is your policy.
A share is the header, the coinbase and the merkle branches, signed by a worker key your did:nostr master delegated. The coordinator's signed ack makes it a receipt. What was acked and not paid is provable.
The coordinator only dictates coinbase outputs, from a deterministic difficulty-summed window. Every block pays the window directly. Nobody ever holds the reward.
btc and xbt and their testnet4s. A block is valid when your node accepts it, policy included.
Proof-of-work shares, a window, a split. Two verifiers with the same shares produce the same outputs, byte for byte.
did:nostr masters, delegated workers, signed documents. Relays carry them and are never the source of truth.
Variance transfer and claim trading are reserved names in the spec, not part of the protocol.
Every check a datstr verifier makes is a bitcoin-kernel rule, and the kernel runs in a tab. So an auditor fetches the coordinator's documents, replays the shares, and checks the coinbase of every block against the ledger without trusting anyone. The same kernel can mine: a page with a WebSocket is a miner, and a coordinator is a JSS plugin, a page with a socket.
| alias | chain | header | proof of work |
|---|---|---|---|
btc | Bitcoin mainnet | 80 bytes | SHA256d |
tbtc4 | Bitcoin testnet4 | 80 bytes | SHA256d |
xbt | Knots BLAKE2b mainnet | 164 bytes | tagged SHA-256 tree, BLAKE2b-256, XOR mask |
txbt4 | Knots BLAKE2b testnet4 | 164 bytes | as above |
Stratum v1 stays on the gateway's south side, so any miner that speaks it today, an ASIC or a tab, mines into a datstr coinbase unchanged. The gateway runs beside your own node and builds the block there; the coordinator speaks signed JSON and never sees a template. Existing gateway software that already builds templates at the miner's node is one adapter away from a datstr coordinator.
